JukeBoxRadio was founded in June 2006 by online friends Brett McLaughlin and Craig Shergold, whom first met on the forums of the now defunct “Freecast” multi-user open internet radio platform. Having both agreed that the service though good in its concept just wasn’t attracting many listeners and what was needed was a mainstream internet radio station which not only catered for a wider audience but one which would appeal to wider spectrum. JukeBoxRadio launched in June 2006 broadcasting feel good music from the 1960′s to the current charts. There were many ups and downs, many disagreements, and many occasions where I (Brett) thought I knew better and turned out to be wrong. But hopefully now in 2014, with time a healer and the past bad experiences and disagreements behind us, we can bounce back to entertain again.
JukeBoxRadio are super psyched to be re-launching and returning to the airwaves, we don’t plan to change anything, it will still be your favourite station with your favourite music with your favourite nut cases at the helm doing what we do best … showing off.
Sadly nothing is ever guaranteed, I mean lets take a look what has changed since JukeBoxRadio came off-air, Friends ended after a terrific run, Alex Salmond took over as First Minister of Scotland (JBRs homeland). Whatever happens we hope we can be around for a while to come and maybe a bit longer after that.
As mentioned above, JukeBoxRadio literally is an online JukeBox of great music from the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties and right up to the hits of today, we also play music which rarely gets any airplay any more. That is why we think we’ll appeal to you, whether you like ABBA or Black Sabbath, Creed or David Gray or even Erasure or Frank Sinatra, we think there will be something here for every taste. So why not sit back, grab a coffee and relax with us.Please note internet radio is not governed by OFCOM and as such some of our tracks may have mild swearing / cursing.
Those Crazy Jingles Man
Our jingles package built up over the space of five years, and utilized the fantastic services from the likes of Music Radio Creative, Alistair at Air Media and our pal Peter Rider (the voice artist behind our Granny Dee Nile character).
